A digital banking service depends on much more than the technology customers see. Behind the scenes, banks must adapt core systems while ensuring that changes work smoothly for customers and meet regulatory requirements. Insurers face similar pressures as they expand digital access while continuing to rely on legacy infrastructure. The challenge is making change work across the organisation, rather than solving each problem in isolation.
Through the Dutch government-supported Partners for International Business (PIB) programme, seven Dutch FinTech and consultancy companies are bringing different perspectives to these connected challenges. Coordinated by Cognito Media, PIB FinTech Germany connects Dutch expertise with the German financial-services market. Rather than presenting one standard solution, the group focuses on how institutions can combine technology, data, compliance and operational insight to support their own priorities.
Connecting technology, payments and customer needs
Modernising financial services requires different kinds of expertise. Akkuro by Topicus helps banks build and evolve digital services through a composable approach to banking. FiSer Consulting works with financial institutions to navigate business and technology change, helping connect transformation initiatives with areas such as data integration, risk and regulatory requirements. PaymentGenes brings a payments perspective, supporting organisations as they shape their strategy, enter new markets and transform their payment capabilities.
These areas often overlap in practice. A change to core systems can affect customer journeys, payment flows and regulatory controls. A new payment service may need to integrate with existing infrastructure while meeting operational and compliance requirements. Considering these connections early can help institutions move from isolated improvements to more sustainable change.
Building trust into digital processes
Digital customer access depends on trust. Institutions need to verify customers and business partners, manage documents securely and maintain appropriate records. Zynyo provides digital signing and identification services, including electronic signatures and document sealing. Business Radar focuses on company risk intelligence and adverse-media monitoring, supporting KYB, third-party due diligence, sanctions screening and ongoing monitoring.
For financial institutions, the challenge is to meet verification and risk-management requirements without making digital processes unnecessarily complicated or time-consuming. Solutions need to support regulatory compliance while keeping the experience straightforward for customers.
Turning data into actionable insight
As services become more interconnected, visibility becomes more important. WTSS helps financial institutions assess the performance and reliability of their digital services, identifying weaknesses across customer journeys, banking channels, APIs and transaction processes. Bounce Watch provides private-market intelligence and company monitoring, supporting organisations that need insight into businesses, markets and potential partners.
Both perspectives highlight a broader need for reliable information. Whether an institution is improving service availability, assessing a new market or evaluating a partnership, decisions depend on timely and relevant data.
Making transformation work in practice
There is no single route through financial-services transformation. The right combination depends on existing systems, business objectives, regulatory responsibilities and the pace at which change can be implemented. Technology needs to work in practice, fit the organisation’s operating environment and deliver value over time.
Through PIB FinTech Germany, the seven companies aim to exchange knowledge with German institutions and explore how their expertise can help address practical challenges. By bringing different perspectives together, they hope to support financial institutions as they navigate change and adapt to an increasingly digital environment.
